What Is An Auto-Responder? - American Dream ? Internet ...

By Derrick Wilcox

How many of you don?t know, or at least don?t understand what an auto-responder is or what it does and what part it plays in our internet marketing business?

We may or may not realise it but practically all of us have received messages from auto-responders at some time or other.

It may have come in the form of a reply from someone you have sent an email to or something you have requested information about.

More often than not, auto-responders messages are used to sell products or an advance message letting you know about a new product release.

The vast majority of messages you receive, especially the one that go straight into your spam box, originate from the auto-responder. The auto-responder is, as its name suggests, an automatic response to a request in some form or other, usually from an email. Basically, they send out automatic messages.

The message the auto-responder sends is a response that has already been programmed into the auto-responder by the programmer of the auto-responder. The majority of auto-responders will be capable of holding a large variety of different pre set messages. The message sent will depend on which responder list the incoming message has gone into.

When the auto-responder first started life, they were used mainly by email transfer agents or as we know them now, email providers. They were used to send an automated message, usually to let you know that the email you had sent had not been delivered. Auto-responders were nothing like as sophisticated as they are today, although they were of some use.

As time has gone on, the auto responder has changed considerably, it has proved to be very useful with the larger companies and even with the everyday Internet marketer. Today, the auto responder is used by businesses and companies all around the world to give immediate response and feedback to interested customers and subscribers. Auto responders are used to reply to emails about practically anything, other programs, details of products, pricing of products and even a specific time that company personnel can contact a customer.

If you stop and think how long it would take you to reply by email to every email you receive you will realise just how much time you save using an auto responder. The average internet marketer gets hundreds of emails daily and the auto responder just merrily chugs along and sends your pre written reply to each and every one.

An auto responder is now a definite must have item to compliment your internet marketing business.
