Station X Raises Additional $5M Led By Runa Capital To Help Crack The Genetic Code

Screen Shot 2012-09-17 at 15.41.51Station X, which develops software for scientists and clinicians who work with large-scale human genome data, has announced that it's raised $5 million in a second funding round, led by Runa Capital. In what was effectively a follow-on, the startup's previous investors -- mostly notably, Genomic Health -- also participated. This new round also sees Runa Capital partner Andre Bliznyuk join the Station X Board of Directors. The additional funds will be used by Station X to expand its team and accelerate the commercialization of its flagship product, GenePool, a software-based "biomarker discovery system" for storing, analyzing, and visualizing large-scale genomic data. In other words, this is heavy Life Sciences stuff, mixed with a bit of old-fashioned BIG data!
